International migration has interdisciplinary character. Migration is nowadays studied quantitatively through statistics. The project’s ambition is to fill certain gabs in understanding of individual types of Slovak migration utilizing mixed method - qualitative and quantitative methods. We would like to find out answers to the following questions: what was the benefit of stay abroad to Slovak citizens (1) from their personal point of view in regards to the foreigners, system of work and education, (2) in terms of their knowledge and skills and opinion on (3) their benefit to Slovakia upon their return, but also in the case of remaining abroad. Hence there is a need to study the factors determining Slovak migration – reasons for leaving and returning. Slovakia is experiencing brain drain, concerning the tertiary education. The second issue is brain circulation, concerning the lower levels of education. Therefore, the case study will consist of university students, low skilled and high skilled Slovaks.
