Popis / Abstract
Energy poverty is one of the currently frequently discussed social issues. Like other forms of poverty and social exclusion, it results from a combination of complex, interlinked institutional and structural challenges. The presented analysis deals with the concept of energy poverty (its origin and definitions) and analyses data indicating the extent and impacts of the problem in the Slovak Republic. It focuses on the relationships between household income and household energy efficiency. In the second part, we looked at the energy poverty as a political challenge associated with practical implications for policy making. Particular attention is paid to the lack of adequate policies as well as to the general framework of the energy poverty and the issue of housing allowances, which are circumventing the whole household segments by increasingly stringent rules.
