Presentation at the Annual Conference of the Slovak Craft Industry Federation
On Friday 15 March, Lucia Mýtna Kureková contributed to the Annual Conference of the Slovak Craft Industry Federation titled Would we miss trade workers? The importance of trade business for the economy and society.
The aim of the event was to highlight the significance of trade workers for the national economy and to look for solutions to improve the position of trade workers in society through an expert exchange of information. The conference was attended by representatives of the state administration, representatives of employers' associations, and entrepreneurs themselves.
Lucia Mýtna Kureková and Alexandra Moran from the Institute for Forecasting of the CSPS SAS introduced the instrument of posting of workers and its regulatory framework in their presentation, which was based on research conducted in the POW-BRIDGE and INFO-POW projects carried out for the European Commission. Using data on posting, they highlighted the share of posted self-employed workers from Slovakia, which is several times higher than the EU average. Moreover, the amount of self-employed posted workers is increasing every year and their share in total postings from Slovakia increased by 16 percentage points between 2014 (35%) and 2022 (51%). The contribution also stressed the scope for greater involvement of social partners in providing information on posting and eliminating inequalities between undertakings in access to information.
